Patrimoine local - Château de Mazoncle

Un peu d'histoire

Le hameau de Mazoncle a pour origine une exploitation agricole gallo-romaine appelée "Villa Mansioncula" qui est citée dans une charte de 808 comme faisant partie des possessions du Comte ECCARD dans la région de Perrecy-les-Forges.
Le premier acte des archives de Mazoncle est daté du "mercredi avant la fête du bienheureux Laurent de l'an 1307". Le 13 juillet 1387 Guillaume de MASONCLES reconnaît "tenir en fief, de toute antiquité comme ses prédécesseurs, du Comte Bernard d'ARMAGNAC, sa maison-forte de MAS ONCLES avec les terres qui en dépendent sur les paroisses d'Oudry, de Marly et de Perrecy". C'était une construction rectangulaire avec deux tours carrées à ses extrêmités. Elle était située à une trentaine de mètres à l'est de l'actuel château avec, comme protection, un mur et un fossé.
La première pierre du château actuel  fut posée le 7 août 1559. C'est un gros pavillon carré et double, dont l'arête faîtière s'élève à 40 mètres au dessus du sol, le toit seul, girouettes comprises, ayant plus de 20 mètres d'élévation.
De nombreuses restaurations au cours des ans ont permis au château et aux dépendances d'être actuellement en parfait état.
